Iolite can sometimes be mistaken for a dark patchy Amethyst. 


It is a crystal which can help calm the over-active mind & fears, can also help one to see possible solutions to our unsolvable emotional problems.


Cordierite, a silicate mineral found in metamorphic & igneous rocks.


Known as Iolite when found clear or transparent in the gem & Jewellery trade.  Older names for this mineral ‘Dichromate” and ‘Water Sapphire”


The name iolite comes from the Greek word for violet.  Gem quality Iolite varies in colour from sapphire blue to blue violet to yellowish grey to light blue as the light angle changes.

Tumble stones are so called because a number of stones of similar sizes are placed in a barrel which is rotated (tumbled) at a speed and after a time between 3 - 5 weeks the stones are polished from rough to smooth. 
(The Tumble stones we sell, have not been tumbled by ourselves)
