Edmontosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurid (duck-billed) dinosaur.


The first fossils named Edmontosaurus were discovered in southern Alberta, Canada (named after Edmonton, the capital city)


  

Edmontosaurus dinosaurs lived at the end of the Cretaceous time period, from around 72 to 65 million years ago, with fossils found Canada, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the USA, including the state of Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. Adults from 9 could grow to as much as 12 meters long. Largest individuals potentially up to 13 meters long.
