Found in Niger, Africa, Suchomimus (sook-oh-mim-us) is a genus of Spinosaurid Dinosaur, a group of Dinosaurs that contains the maybe more well known species Spinosaurus. Unlike the Spinosaurus, which lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, Suchomimius lived during the Early Cretaceous Period, 121-112 million years ago.

Its name means 'crocodile mimic' because of its long crocodile like skull, which could be 4 feet (1.2 meters) in length and consist over a 100 teeth. The teeth on Suchomimus were curved slight backwards to grasp in prey. The full size of Suchomimus is an estimated size is 9.5–11 metres (31–36 ft) in length and weighing about 4 tons.

Suchomimus had long muscular forelimbs and bearing a giant thumb sickle like claw on each hand. The size of these claws could be as 16 inch in length (40.6cm). These claw like thumbs was quite unique among dinosaurs.

Like other Spinosaurids, Suchomimus had a dorsal sail, about 2 meters in height, long the spines of its vertebrae and likely preyed on fish, roaming the floodplain of what’s now Niger during the late Aptian to early Albian stages of the Early Cretaceous.
