Azurite is a cooper carbonate mineral. Its name is derived from its deep azure blue colour. Its crystal system is monoclinic and, although it is most often found in massive or botryoidal forms, it sometimes grows in long, deep blue, prismatic crystals. It also occurs in stalactitic, columnar or radiating forms. It frequently appears in combination with Malachite, another copper carbonate, this one with a bright green colour.

It is found in Australia, China, Chile, Russia and the USA. Particularly beautiful Azurites and Azurite/Malachites have been found in the copper mines of Bisbee, Arizona.

Falsehood stems from fear. Azurite is said to have the ability to help one understand the root of one’s fears when one is habitually untruthful or deceptive. It can lend one the courage to correct these patterns and to be more clear and truthful to oneself and others.

Physically Azurite is said to be helpful in all issues of the brain and head. It can help soothe migraines, lessen tinnitus, and balance vertigo.
