Howlite is to be extremely calming stone helping with patience and anger.  Placed under the pillow with a piece of Rose Quartz, it can be an excellent antidote to insomnia, especially when this is caused by an overactive mind. It is also said to balance the calcium levels within the body and aids teeth, bones, and soft tissue.

Howlite is white with fine grey or black veins in an erratic often web-like pattern and is opaque with a sub-vitreous lustre. Because of its porous texture howlite can be easily dyed to imitate other minerals especially turquoise because of the superficial similarity of the veining patterns. The dyed howlite (or Magnesite) is marketed as Turquenite.

Crystals are found in Canada, USA Turkey, Germany, Mexico and Russia. The maximum size of crystals is about 1 cm, but more common Howlite available is always in a massive group where actual crystal shapes are not visible by the eye.
