Kunzite is a supportive stone, which can help to reduce stress, or help escape a depression, this can help to allow a peaceful love into ones heart.  Kunzite is also a protective stone, shielding ones Aura from unwanted energies and dispelling negativity.

Kunzite is a member of the Spodumene family a pyroxene pegmatite mineral (which is a group of minerals very important to rock-forming found occurring in lithium-rich granites and Aplite an intrusive rock where Quartz and feldspar are dominant)

Named after after George Frederick Kunz, who discovered it in Connecticut, USA in 1902.

Kunzite is found with colours ranging from transparent and colourless to yellow and lilac pink.  When it has a yellow-green or distinct green hue it is known as Hiddenite.  Crystals are found both as a flattened prismatic crystal which are very vertically striated and as a massive formation Often found with Spodumene are Quartz, Albite, Petalite, Eucryptite, Lepidolite and Beryl.

Spodumene is an important source of lithium for use in ceramics, mobile phones and car batteries with world production of lithium via Spodumene around 80,000 metric tonnes per annum.  Spodumene can be found in - Afghanistan, Madagascar, Pakistan, Australia, China, Chile, Myanmar and  It is currently mined commercially  in Brazil, USA, Canada, Mexico and Sweden.
