Thunder Eggs are good personal power stones, providing stability and grounding.


A spherical rock which form in some types of silica-rich volcanic rocks (e.g. rhyolites). As the volcanic lava cooled, trapped steam and other gases formed an expanding bubble.  These can range from a centimetre (half inch) too over a meter (three feet) across. They usually contain centres of chalcedony with fractures of agate, jasper or opal, either uniquely or in combination. Also quartz & gypsum crystals, as well as various other mineral growths and inclusions. 


  

The Native Americans thought when thunderstorms occurred these rival, jealous Gods hurled large numbers of the round-shaped rocks at each other in furious anger. Thus, according to Native American legend, Thunder eggs were scattered over the high plateaus of Central Oregon.
